Del City is a town in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, United States, and a part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. The population was 21,332 at the 2010 census. Del City is located near two major highways, Interstate 40 and Interstate 35. The city borders Midwest City on the east and south sides and is surrounded by other suburbs such as Choctaw and Nicoma Park. It has a sister city with Dunedin, Florida. Here are five things to do when visiting Del City!

Visit Sooner Mall

Sooner Mall opened in 1968 and is the first regional mall in Central Oklahoma. With over 70 stores and restaurants, there’s something for everyone at Sooner Mall! Check out popular retailers like JCPenney, Dillard’s, Bath & Body Works, Torrid, and more. Be sure to grab a bite to eat at one of the delicious eateries like Chick-fil-A, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, or Sbarro. Sooner Mall is the perfect place to find unique gifts for your friends and loved ones – or even treat yourself!

Explore Tinker Air Force Base

Tinker Air Force Base is located just south of Del City in Midwest City. The base is home to the headquarters of the Air Force Materiel Command as well as several fleet support units. Visitors can explore the Military History Center & Aerospace Museum which chronicles Tinker’s history as an aircraft maintenance depot dating back to World War II. There are also several monuments and sculptures on the base commemorating Tinker’s contributions to various military conflicts throughout the years. You’ll want to bring your camera when visiting Tinker AFB!

Shop at Quail Springs Mall

Quail Springs Mall is another great shopping destination in Del City! This two-level indoor mall features over 100 retailers and restaurants, including Macy’s, Dillard’s, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Forever 21, and more. Visit Pelican Bay Aquatic Center

The center features a lazy river, water slides, an interactive pool with spray features for kids, lap lanes for adults, and much more. There’s also a concession stand on-site if you get hungry while swimming or sunbathing. Admission rates are very reasonable – only $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 3-17 – making Pelican Bay Aquatic Center the perfect place to spend a summer day!

Catch a Thunder Game at Chesapeake Energy Arena

The Oklahoma City Thunder are Del City’s NBA team and they play their home games at Chesapeake Energy Arena in downtown Oklahoma City. While the arena isn’t technically located in Del City itself, it’s only about a 15-20 minute drive from anywhere in town so it’s not too far to go if you’re looking for something fun to do! Catch all the action as the Thunder take on some of the best teams in the NBA – you might even see superstar players like Russell Westbrook or Paul George! Tickets start as low as $20 so it won’t break the bank either.

Del City may be a small town but it certainly packs a punch when it comes to things to do! From shopping and dining at one of the many malls and restaurants to exploring Tinker Air Force Base or catching an NBA game courtesy of the Oklahoma City Thunder – there’s something for everyone in Del City!
